Postauricular Cutaneous Mastoid Fistula Surgically Closed by a Temporalis Muscle Rotational Flap: A Case Report

چکیده
Background: Postauricular cutaneous mastoid fistula (PCMF) is quite rare. Possible triggers include a radical mastoidectomy, chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM), or the spontaneous exteriorization of cholesteatoma through postauricular skin surface. Case Report: This study reported 62-year-old woman who presented with right-sided discharging lesion for two years and history ear discharge over past 20 years. Physical examination revealed 10×8 mm pearly white tissue at opening mucoid discharge. Otoscopy represented an attic as potential underlying cause, computed tomography demonstrated soft-tissue density in middle extending into cavity towards area. The PCMF was surgically closed using temporalis muscle rotational flap no recurrence 6-month follow-up. Conclusion: Overall, surgical closure appears to be effective technique treating PCMF.

BACKGROUND Postauricular cutaneous mastoid fistula (PCMF) is a rare complication of chronic suppurative otitis media, may also complicate ear surgery and, very rarely, has been reported to complicate congenital cholesteatoma. Few authors have given descriptions of techniques of closure, with majority agreeing on the difficulty in managing such fistula due to the necrotic nature of the margin. ...
